The first “post-pandemic” school year: a teacher’s perspective

First day of the 2022–23 school year. Some of my students were mad at me for DAYS when I cut my hair short midyear.
I used these Legos for a reading lesson and they stayed proudly on display in my classroom all year. The student who built them noticed any time someone even slightly moved them.
This year it was important to me to cultivate a classroom culture of encouragement as well as meaningful feedback. This translated beyond academics.
The random notes and drawings I found around my classroom always brightened my day. I equally loved spontaneous visits from students throughout the day.
